HSE University offers a range of sustainability-related continuous education programmes, such as green finance, antitrust policy, and social investment.

Service Learning

Service Learning is an approach that allows for the integration of academic, professional, and soft skills in project-based activities aimed at addressing relevant issues of social and sustainable development.

HSE University has vast experience in implementing sustainable development initiatives. It not only offers a Service Learning module to integrate such initiatives into project-based learning, but also offers methodological and expert support to other Russian universities, as more and more of them have been implementing Service Learning initiatives since 2023. As one of the key initiators of Service Learning integration in the Russian educational system, HSE University supplies faculty members of Russian universities with educational modules and digital internships that help integrate sustainable development projects into educational programmes.

HSE University’s students implement a wide range of initiatives within the service learning framework:

  • The Rediscovering Russia project is a series of annual student expeditions. Students from the best Russian universities participate in socially significant projects that change life in provincial regions for the better.
  • ‘Kirillitsa’ is a project aiming at developing a value-oriented university. It supports students in their social impact projects in various fields, including environmental protection, social mobility, promotion of education and culture, public safety, blood donation, and sports.
  • HSE students are engaged in educational projects for school students. One of such projects is IES Evening School—a career guidance initiative for future specialists in economics and finance.
  • Public, business, and community needs related to sustainable development are included in several research and learning projects. More information about those projects is available on the Project Fair website.
  • HSE students and faculty members collaborate with ‘Open Your Eyes’ charity organisation and implement ‘HSE for kids’ project in order to help kids, including those with health issues, to learn and socialise successfully.
