On November 20, 2024, HSE University hosted the annual autumn Career Marathon, traditionally organised by its Career Development Centre. Guests could enjoy various booths with activities from partner companies, video interviews with industry experts, a cinema zone with popcorn, as well as games, quests, puzzles, quizzes, and gifts.

Researchers at HSE University have proposed a novel approach to assessing AI's competency in educational settings. The approach is grounded in psychometric principles and has been empirically tested using the GPT-4 model. This marks the first step in evaluating the true readiness of generative models to serve as assistants for teachers or students. The results have been published in arXiv.

A coworking space has been created in HSE Dormitory 8 ‘Trilistnik.’ Students now have access to a unique and comfortable place for exam preparation, networking, and collaborative activities. This is the first branded coworking space in a student dormitory, named Alfa Space.

On November 8, HSE University hosted the Republic of Scientists Festival for the seventh time. The population of African countries is growing so fast that the continent is likely to play a significant role in global development. However, the socio-economic situation in African States remains dramatic. Access to high-quality education, the development of science and high technologies are crucial in addressing these challenges. Professor Alexander Sokolov, Head of the UNESCO Chair on Future Studies at HSE University, spoke at the International Forum of UNESCO Chairs and Partners ‘Transforming Knowledge for Africa’s Future.’ The event took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In the framework of the academic mission to Latin America, HSE University-St Petersburg has negotiated to launch joint projects with leading Brazilian universities. Thus, with the University of São Paulo, the first in the QS ranking among Brazilian universities, HSE plans to carry out joint research aimed at supporting biodiversity, developing biotechnologies and solving ecological and social issues. The project also involves students and staff mobility for mutual exchange of knowledge and experience.

The HSE Graduate School of Business won the ‘Best Project/Programme for Engaging Youth in Positive Change’ category in the ESG Excellence Award. This award is given annually to recognise achievements in the fields of sustainable development and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) for their significant social impact. Among the award winners and nominees are major Russian companies and organisations that are recognised as leaders in the ESG agenda and make a substantial contribution to the sustainable development of Russia's economy and society.

Federico Gallo is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Cognition and Decision Making of the HSE Institute for Cognitive Research. In 2023, he won the Award for Special Achievements in Career and Public Life Among Foreign Alumni of HSE University. On October 12, 2024, the HSE Сampus on Pokrovka hosted the annual career fair STROY.FEST, organised by DOM.RF in cooperation with HSE's Career Development Centre. The event focused on careers in the construction industry in eco-friendly cities. Students had the chance to meet representatives from various companies, participate in workshops, learn about internship opportunities, and receive gifts and career advice from potential employers.
